Meet Audrey

My name is Audrey Traaen, and I’m a lifelong Canby resident. I grew up attending Canby schools, and now as a parent, I’m excited that my children get to share that same experience. Iwant my children in the Canby School District because it’s the community we love - but just as importantly, I want them to receive a quality education. Canby has played such an important role in shaping who I am, and I’m passionate about ensuring that our schools provide every child with the education they deserve.
My professional background includes 10 years at the Canby Area Chamber of Commerce, where I worked closely with local businesses, government leaders, and community organizations. Through this role, I developed a strong foundation in budgeting and financial management, strategic planning, and firsthand knowledge into the dynamics of working with a board.
Currently, I serve as a legislative assistant for House District 51, focusing on constituent services. In this position, I’ve acquired a comprehensive understanding of how state funding, legislation, and governmental processes shape our schools.
Outside of my career, I’ve had the opportunity to gain experience through volunteering within the community. I coach youth sports, serve on Canby Fire District’s Civil Service Commission, the City of Canby’s Project Advisory Committee for the Comprehensive Plan and the Canby School District’s Budget Committee.
